Sustainability specialist Thrust Carbon has created a new feature designed to analyse the environmental impact of different flights, routes and airlines.
The UK-based company’s Airline Routes Analyzer compares millions of data points to help travel managers to make "more sustainable procurement decisions on every flight and route in the world”.
Thrust Carbon said the tool calculates the potential emissions savings for every route and airline featured within the corporate’s travel programme.
“This insight provides clear evidence for potential emissions reductions by switching carriers which, in some cases, can be as large as 30 per cent,” said the company in a statement.
Kit Aspen, founder and CEO at Thrust Carbon, added: “A lack of access to data and limited analytics have undermined emission reduction efforts across the travel sector.
"We've created a powerful tool that transforms complex travel data into actionable insights and offers huge potential emissions savings."
Features of the Airline Routes Analyzer include the ability for clients to identify their highest-emitting routes in the travel programme and using emissions data to provide “detailed breakdowns” of each airline’s performance.
It also offers more automated insights to “streamline data analysis” for travel managers, as well as calculating potential emissions savings for all routes and airlines in the programme to illustrate which ones can have the most impact on reducing emissions from flights.
Thrust Carbon added that this data can also be used to support sustainability initiatives within corporate procurement processes to select preferred suppliers.
The Airline Routes Analyzer will be available through Thrust Carbon’s Spotlight tool.
The move comes a day after Thrust Carbon announced a new partnership with another sustainability specialist Clarasight to “align the strengths” of both companies’ platforms.
