Lufthansa Group will reduce its GDS surcharge on EDIFACT tickets issued via Sabre by €2.5 from 1 January.
The airline group – which includes Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, SWISS and Air Dolomiti – said it is adjusting its distribution cost charge (DCC) in EDIFACT due to currency fluctuations.
From 1 January 2025 (date of ticket issue), the DCC on all Lufthansa Group airlines EDIFACT tickets issued via Sabre will decrease from €24.50 to €22 per ticket.
The surcharge for EDIFACT tickets issued via Amadeus and Travelport remains unchanged, at €17.50 and €23 per ticket, respectively.
Likewise, the surcharge for NDC bookings via a GDS partner also remains unchanged at €8 per ticket across Amadeus, Sabre and Travelport.
The group’s DCC does not vary by region or fare and is applicable to all tickets issued by a travel agency or distribution partner using a GDS.
NDC bookings made direct via the group’s NDC API or via its airlines’ respective websites are exempt from the DCC. NDC bookings made via SPRK, the free web-based user interface, as well as via the group’s “approved technology aggregators” are also exempt from the €8 charge.
