IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has announced that the historic Bristol Berlin hotel is to become its first Vignette Collection property in Germany later this year.
The hotel, located on Berlin’s Kurfürstendamm, first opened in 1952 and features 303 rooms, a brasserie-style restaurant, lobby lounge and bar, as well as 1,500 square metres of meeting and events space. The Bristol Berlin is part of real estate company Aroundtown’s portfolio of more than 150 hotels across Europe.
IHG set up Vignette as its first “collection” brand of independent hotels in 2021 and has so far signed 50 properties as it looks to achieve the aim of reaching 100 hotels by 2030. Vignette made its debut in the UK last year with the signing of a hotel in Liverpool and last month announced its first Vignette property in France.
Willemijn Geels, vice president, development in Europe for IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “With both guests and hotel owners continuing to show strong enthusiasm for IHG's variety of brands, our strategy in the market now centres on steadily increasing our luxury and lifestyle portfolio.
“As one of our priority markets, and recognising the vast potential across all market segments, we’ve made significant investments in Germany to support our owners at every stage of their hotel’s lifecycle.”
The signing takes IHG’s total footprint in Germany to 147 open hotels with another 75 properties currently in development.
Kamaldeep Manaktala, Aroundtown’s CEO of hotels, added: “In recent years, we have successfully revitalised the property through extensive room renovations and a refreshed restaurant concept. Now, with the strength of a leading global hotel brand, we are leveraging these improvements to elevate the hotel’s performance to new heights."
